What is SHIELD?

SHIELD is a non-profit organization with more than 10 years service in industrial and construction safety and health.

Born in 1996 at AK Steel in Middletown, Ohio, SHIELD is a cooperative organization for labor and management focusing on training and management of all safety and health concerns.

MISSION
Provide a professional risk-management team coordinating safety, health, medical, legal, claims and environmental concerns. Issues will be addressed with an emphasis on service, committment and trust.
Proactive Stance
  • SHIELD is a results-oriented group, basing success on education and awareness.

  • Classroom and hands-on programs are availabe to focus on specific problems in specific areas.

  • Management services include recordkeeping, drug and alcohol testing and hazard assessment programs.
  • SHIELD members have experienced specific, dramatic and steady improvement in employee health and a marked decrease in accident/injury frequency.

  • SHIELD instructors have decades of experience in industrial and construction safety, maintenance and production.
